about us what we offer previous work our team contact select page data and information, publicly expressed we work with health and social care researchers to turn people’s stories into resources for the public and professionals. about us the dipex charity specialises in communicating health and social care research by developing websites, video and audio, providing technical support and more. our founders dr ann mcpherson and dr andrew herxheimer were inspired by their own experiences to develop a website to share reliable health information based on real experiences. an academic research group was established at oxford university to develop the information and the dipex charity was set up to run the website. the site later became healthtalkonline and is now called healthtalk.org, an award-winning website that gets visited 6 million times a year. in recent years we have expanded our focus by lending our skills and experience to numerous other research projects. see some examples of our other work or get in touch to discuss how we can help with your research impact. what we offer we have worked with research groups all over the world for more than a decade. we have a wealth of experience in communicating health and social care research to lay and professional audiences. we are a non-profit, so our costs are low and all of our revenue goes back into supporting projects that help millions of people. previous work healthtalk.org (2001-onwards) healthtalk.org is the product of a 17 year collaboration with the university of oxford. it contains 8k pages, 25k videos and attracts almost 6 million visits per year. we manage the site, edit video content and oversaw a redevelopment of the site on drupal. inquire (2016 onwards) inquire is an oxford university research project on improving nhs quality using internet ratings and experiences. we developed the main website in wordpress maintain the website, adding content as and when required. dipex international di is an association of research groups and nonprofits around the world who are working on healthtalk.org-inspired projects in their respective countries. we developed the di site in worpdress and maintain the text, images and update content. ipex (2012-16) internet patient experiences (ipex) looked at the efficacy of patient experiences as heath information. we worked in partnership with 7 universities to build 6 test websites and the main site for the project. short film: premature birth in kenya with the university of oxford we developed a training film featuring interviews with kenyan mothers whose babies were born early. we edited the interview clips together with footage of nairobi and sourced the background music. short film: intensive care service improvement we produced a short film of patient interviews designed to prompt discussions amongst staff and patients about improving noise levels in intensive care units. our team professor sean hilton - chair prof. hilton has been chair of the charity since december 2016. he is a medical educator and academic general practitioner. he is emeritus professor of general practice and primary care at st. george’s, university of london and professor of medical education at the university of nicosia in cyprus. mike russell - treasurer mike is a fellow of the institute of chartered management accountants, having qualified as an accountant in 1979. for over 20 years, mike held various financial and general management roles within oxford instruments plc. he was a non-executive director in the nhs in oxfordshire for 14 years. mike was the finance director of the zoological society of london from 2006 until his retirement in 2014. pauline droop - secretary pauline is a solicitor who worked for 15 years for the citizens advice bureau, initially as a generalist but ultimately developing an employment law specialism. she then moved into private practice, becoming a partner in the employment department of russell-cooke llp. she has now retired but continues as a consultant. pauline is an honorary solicitor to west london action for children, a charity providing counselling and support to disadvantaged children and their parents and/or carers in west london. dr. judy kane - trustee judy is a gp who qualified from st. georges hospital in 1968 and started an audio-visual aids programme for teaching medical students at the hospital. judy became a trainer in 1985 and taught pre and postgraduate medical students from the national heart and lung institute and to st. georges hospital medical school. for 15 years she was on the elizabeth nuffield education trust committee and oversaw the giving of grants to students. judy is a fellow of the royal society of arts and chairs the south west london advisory committee for the appointment of magistrates. chief executive officer adam barnett joined dipex in 2008 from his former position at a web-based, vc-funded company. he was appointed ceo in 2018. jo walsh -
